Case study · Flagship build
Orbit: the CRM we built, and will never rent.
Every application that comes through this website lands in Orbit. It's the CRM our founder built for himself and runs Hatch on every day. This page shows you exactly what got built, what the same features cost as subscriptions, and what's possible when you own your software.
What got built
A full CRM, shaped to one business. Not a template.
These aren't mockups. Every screenshot below is the real product, the one running our own pipeline right now.
Contacts with a memory
Every person gets a full profile, an interaction timeline, and automatic change history. Smart views surface who to reconnect with before they go cold.
Pipelines that match the sale
Drag deals through stages you define, with values and running totals. Moving a deal can even suggest the next task automatically.
Email lives inside
A built-in Gmail inbox with a rich composer. Sent emails report opens and link clicks straight onto the contact's timeline.
Calendar, synced both ways
Tasks and meetings sync with Google Calendar in both directions. Schedule by dragging a task onto a time slot.
A real task system
Full GTD workflow: inbox, today, next, waiting, someday. Quick capture from anywhere with one keystroke, tied to people and deals.
And the parts you can't screenshot
In-browser meeting recording with on-device transcription, no per-minute fees. Inbound and outbound webhooks to connect anything. AI agents that work the CRM. Multi-user workspaces with roles. All owned, all extendable.
The ownership math
Rent this feature set, or own it once.
To rent what Orbit does, a small team strings together a CRM seat, an email tracking add-on, a meeting transcription tool, and a task manager. Good tools, all of them. But the bill never ends, and none of them fit your exact workflow.
| What you need | Typical tool | Published price | 3 people, monthly |
|---|---|---|---|
| CRM with pipeline, email sync & automations | Close (Growth) | $99/user/mo | $297 |
| Email open & click tracking | Yesware (Pro) | $15/user/mo | $45 |
| Meeting transcription | Fireflies.ai (Pro) | $10/user/mo | $30 |
| Task manager | Todoist (Pro) | $5/user/mo | $15 |
| The subscription stack | $387/mo, forever | ||
| Orbit-class custom build | Hatch Platform tier | From $10,000 once | $0/mo license |
Published pricing from each vendor's site, checked June 2026, billed annually. Close's Growth tier is the fair match because Orbit also includes calling, automations and workflows. These are good tools, and on smaller teams or starter tiers renting can stay cheaper for a while. The gap opens as your team and the years grow.
| Cost over time (3 people) | Year 1 | Year 3 | Year 5 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Subscription stack ($387/mo) | $4,644 | $13,932 | $23,220 |
| Custom build ($10,000) + care plan ($99/mo) | $11,188 | $13,564 | $15,940 |
Break-even lands just before year three, then the savings compound. And that's at 3 people. At 6, the subscription stack doubles to $774/mo while the custom number doesn't move. No per-seat fees, ever. The custom column includes the optional Hatch Care plan for hosting and support; skip it and run it yourself, and the only ongoing cost is your own hosting.
What it changes day to day
One app. No copy-paste between five tools.
- A call gets transcribed, logged on the contact, and turned into a follow-up task without leaving the app.
- An email gets opened and you see it on the deal you're about to chase. No tab switching, no guessing.
- Your calendar, your pipeline, and your to-do list agree with each other, because they're the same system.
- When the workflow changes, the app changes. A new field, a new stage, a new automation gets added when you need it, not when a vendor's roadmap allows it.
- Your data is in your database. Nobody raises the price on you, sunsets your plan, or holds your contacts hostage.

What's possible for your business
This scope is our Platform tier. Yours starts at $2,000.
Orbit is what "from $10,000" buys: a complete platform with AI built in. A single focused tool starts at $2,000, an operational hub at $5,000. Every build comes with the same promise: a working MVP by Day 5, a real and usable version of your app, and if you don't love it you get every dollar back.
